FIRE DEPARTMENT MANAGERS ACADEMY

Leaders of volunteer or small combination fre departments are
introduced to management concepts and principles based on
business strategies and philosphies, areas that often are not covered
when these leaders rise through the ranks one year at a time and
gain their knowledge through fre service course work or hands-on
experience. Students are presented with mini-modules in each of
the following topics: understanding fre department studies, reviews,
and long-range planning; managing fre service resources through
GIS mapping; fre department facilities, needs, maintenance, and
long-range planning; fre department vehicle and feet management
and needs assessments; and understanding National Fire Protection
Association 1720, Standard for the Organization and Deployment
of the Suppression Operations, Emergency Medical Operations and
Special Operations to the Public by Volunteer Fire Departments. All
attendees can beneft from this session; however, this is a must-have
workshop for new or future offcers, especially fre service emerging
leaders ages 18-28.
